Man seriously injured after boat hits channel marker

A man is in a serious but stable condition after the boat in which he was travelling ran into a channel marker in Mandurah.

The man, who had been in the small powerboat with another male friend, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance on a priority basis.

His friend was taken to Peel Health Campus with minor injuries.

The accident happened about 8.45pm on the Mandurah Estuary near Waterside Drive.

The crash caused considerable damage to the boat and is partially submerged in the shallow water.

Mandurah Water Rescue Group assisted with rescuing the men.
