Great performances during first race

The Nickol Bay Triathlon Club held their first race of the year on Sunday in Dampier.

About 40 people turned out for the challenging race which began at 7am.

In the long course there was a 600 metre swimming leg along the Dampier foreshore and then an 18 kilometre bike ride up to Parker Point.

The long course finished with a 6km run, which went from the Dampier Palms to the Peninsula Palms.

Ben Leishman took the win in front of Steve Bertling and Todd Rintoul, who finished in third place.

The first lady across the line was Kate Shryock while the first junior was Nino Antonucci, narrowly beating Kyle Aleckson.

The short-course challenge took in a 300m swim, 9km ride and a 3km run. Tania Neeson was first, followed by Wayne Brown and Alice Bowden.
