Karratha is set to play host to a number of inaugural events in 2013, boosting the variety of entertainment and attractions available to residents in the Pilbara.
Presented by Wrapped Creations, the events will range from boating shows to beachside markets and a multi-sport relay.
Wrapped Creations director David Yakas said it was exciting to bring a variety of new events to the Pilbara.
“Events provide a great vehicle to connect communities and like-minded people, there is no reason why Karratha and other towns in the Pilbara should not enjoy a high quality and large variety of entertainment, despite our remote location,” he said.
Scheduled to be held later in the year, the Pilbara Boating and Leisure Festival, backed by the Boating Industry of WA, aims to attract boat lovers from across the region.
Mr Yakas said he believed the event would bring additional benefits for the local tourism and retail industries.
Dampier is also set to provide the location for monthly beachside markets, with initial discussions underway to secure the use of the oval and incorporate a number of stall holders.
Not for the feint hearted, the inaugural Red Dog Festival is set to span the event spectrum as music and social events bookend a gruelling multi-sport relay that covers 340km over two days.
“Wrapped Creations is thrilled to work alongside Alliance Events International to bring such a unique event to the Shire of Roebourne,” Mr Yakas said.
Karratha was transforming into a vibrant and exciting city, Mr Yakas said, and it was important the arts and entertainment industry continued to grow alongside the town.
He said the year was going to be huge and the organisers were ready. The events company is also planning to collaborate with other local organisations to deliver a variety of community and corporate events, such as Crawford Realty’s Royal Flying Doctor Service charity ball and the Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards.
