Hedland sweats through a scorcher

Port Hedland sweltered through its hottest day in more than a year last Monday as the mercury tipped 42.8 degrees.

Taken from the Bureau of Meteorology’s station at Port Hedland airport, the recording represented the hottest day locally since December 20, 2011 when it reached 43 degrees.

Last week’s scorcher was well short of Hedland’s hottest day on record; 49 degrees on January 11, 2008.
