Taken from the Bureau of Meteorology’s station at Port Hedland airport, the recording represented the hottest day locally since December 20, 2011 when it reached 43 degrees.
Last week’s scorcher was well short of Hedland’s hottest day on record; 49 degrees on January 11, 2008.'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
