CELEBRATING ability was the theme recognised by staff and students at St Mary’s College last week during International Day of People with Disability, on December 3.
The event was celebrated by the school for the first time since the opening of the Special Education Network Centre in September.
The centre was launched to provide specialised teaching and services to students with learning disabilities.
A morning tea was held, with family members attending for refreshments. Year 6 students from the school’s Student
Representative Council greeted guests as they arrived, including staff from Disability Services Commission and Kimberley Personnel who came along for the occasion.
Father Matt Digges from the Broome Catholic Diocese said prayers during the morning.
Centre co-ordinator Helen Green said the event may develop as a tradition.
