A re-enactment of the Christmas story was brought to life last week when seniors from the Bran Nue Dae community centre performed their first Christmas nativity in front of an audience.
Seniors enjoyed a special Christmas lunch and took part in a raffle before settling down to watch the performance.
The play focused on the time of King Herod’s reign and the story of the wise men who travelled to pay homage to a new king.
Ted Davie portrayed the “evil” King Herod, while Robert Smith, Sumbo Bin Naro and Peter Moore took the role of the three wise men.
Mary Drummond played the angel Gabriel, who gives good news to Mary, played by Michelle Hunter, with support from Colleen Sheckler, who portrayed Joseph. Centre site supervisor Trevor O’Loughlin played a prophet who announces the arrival of Christ. The story was narrated by volunteer Joyce White, and written and directed by the centre’s activities co-ordinator Rowena Connelly.
