Great Southern lovers of fine food and wine were treated to a smorgasbord of culinary delights last Wednesday at Denmark’s Forest Hill Winery.
Celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita joined Forest Hill’s resident chef Dan Sharp in a dazzling display of gastronomic mastery as part of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape’s program of satellite events.
The two accomplished chefs divided their talents and served up an eclectic four-course menu to the appreciative diners, with dishes ranging from Albany sardines to pumpkin curry to liquid popcorn, accompanied by Forest Hill and Rockcliffe wines and Great Southern Distilling Company’s Limeburners Whisky Liqueur.
Mr Kuruvita, an SBS travel-cooking show personality and successful Sydney chef, said he had been impressed with the quality of Great Southern produce and was grateful to be in Denmark.
“Everything was just so fresh and wonderful, cooking is always a pleasure when you have wonderful produce to use,” he said.
“Margaret River is where everyone else was going, and it’s really nice to be somewhere very special and very different.
“I was really looking forward to being here, it was nice to be touched by this part of the world and I’ll certainly be back.”
