Premier's award for Coolgardie ambulance volunteer

After a senior volunteer’s passing, St John ambulance volunteer Gaynor Jefferies made a personal promise to do everything she could to keep the ambulance centre in Coolgardie open.

With morale low, Mrs Jefferies said with the help of others she had managed to get the centre “back up and running” and things were going very well now.

Mrs Jefferies’ commitment and work with St John ambulance was honoured last weekend when she was presented with a Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a person over 25 years of age.

Mrs Jefferies has lived in Coolgardie for 32 years and volunteered with St John ambulance for almost a decade, and now acts as treasurer and secretary for the centre in Coolgardie.
