Kalgoorlie-Boulder is set to be well-represented at a conference dealing with balancing the needs of regional communities and mining companies.
The Making Fly-in, Fly-out Work in Regional Communities conference will be held in Rockhampton on March 25 and 26 with City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor Ron Yuryevich and chief executive Don Burnett expected to be in attendance.
One of the purposes of the conference is the presentation of the outcomes of the Parliamentary inquiry into the use of FIFO workforce practices by Federal inde- pendent MP Tony Windsor.
Kalgoorlie-Boulder was invited to provide a submission to the inquiry in October 2011 and hosted an inquiry hearing at Rydges Kalgoorlie in April 2012.
At that hearing, Mr Yuryevich and Mr Burnett provided evidence as representatives for the City.
At the ordinary meeting of council on Monday night, it was approved on an 11-0 vote for the mayor and chief executive to attend the conference.
