A Bunbury man was refused bail in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court yesterday after the magistrate voiced concerns he was a potential flight risk.
Luke Spencer Murphy, 21, was on bail on a charge of assaulting a public officer in Bunbury on December 23.
It is alleged Mr Murphy was located in a car and arrested on suspicion of stealing the vehicle.
Police allege Mr Murphy resisted arrest by throwing his arms around and when taken to the ground tried to grab an officer’s Taser from his holster.
The court was told Mr Murphy then tried to kick one of the officers while being handcuffed and tried to stop them from putting him in the holding pod of the police vehicle.
Mr Murphy was granted bail for the incident, with the condition he remain at an address in Bunbury and did not commit any further offences.
He has since been charged with stealing from a restaurant on December 25.
