The slowdown in the mining boom is already upon us, a survey of Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum delegates has found.
Power supply company Aggreko surveyed the delegates during this year’s 20th anniversary of the forum, with questions covering a number of key issues facing the industry.
While 38 per cent of respondents believed the ease in the boom is already upon us, 29 per cent said it was a “possibility”, with more research needed over the next 12 to 18 months.
But 20 per cent said talk of a slowdown had been exaggerated, with the boom likely to continue for years to come in their opinion.
This year’s forum was the biggest yet, with organisers attracting 2400 delegates from mining, business and the media.
More than half of the delegates surveyed listed networking as their number one priority for attending the conference, followed by 17 per cent with developing new business and 10 per cent with meeting new customers.
