While she did not make an appearance, Australia’s most famous mining matriarch has made her mark at this year’s Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum.
Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting received the Dealer Award at last night’s Gala Dinner, which closed the 20th edition of the forum.
The company received the award for its efforts in securing strategic partners to develop the Roy Hill iron ore project in the Pilbara.
The G J Stokes Memorial Award – for outstanding contribution to the resources industry – was taken out by geologist Geoff Loudon.
Mr Loudon was associated with the discovery and development of the 40 million ounce Lihir Gold project in Papua New Guinea and is associated with a number of key exploration syndicates.
Sandfire Resources took out the Digger of the Year award for their achievements in taking their key discoveries through to production in less than three years.
