The Goldfields Giants put on an exhibition for the Kambalda crowd as they registered their biggest victory of the season against the Rockingham Flames in the State Basketball League on Saturday night.
The Giants revelled in the lively atmosphere at the Kambalda Recreation Centre, with an 800-strong crowd cheering them to an emphatic 113-66 win.
Coach Dan Fisher said his side had played their most exciting basketball for the season in their first fixture in the nickel town.
“When Ty Harrelson is throwing the ball behind his back and not turning it over, it’s good,” Fisher said after the game.
“I was happy they got out and ran the breaks.
“It was a different team – we haven’t done that all season – we got out and ran lay-ups and rebounded and passed the ball well.”
The 47-point triumph was a much-needed percentage boost against the bottom of the ladder and under-manned Flames as the Giants make a late charge at the play-offs.
