Boost for port town's dialysis service

A two-chair renal dialysis unit will be provided for the Esperance District Hospital as part of a $6.99 million boost to dialysis services by the State and Federal Governments.

Health Minister Kim Hames said the funding was from the $63.51m Renal Dialysis Plan 2010 to 2021.

“The first stage of the Renal Dialysis Plan will increase the number of dialysis chairs and provide patient accommodation in the regions as well as additional staff,” Dr Hames said.

“This will enable people whose clinical condition is suitable to have dialysis in a rural or remote location.”

Eyre MLA Graham Jacobs said two chairs, with machines, will be incorporated in the hospital’s redevelopment.
