Half-centuries from Veterans’ Bob Wilson and Zac Stewart were enough to ensure a commanding 105-run victory over St George in the latest round of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Cricket Association fixtures at the weekend.
With the round of matches the last before the Christmas break, Veterans have made the perfect start, with an unblemished 9-0 record.
Batting first, Veterans’ top-order failed as they slumped to 4-46 following Matt Rout’s dismissal for 14.
However, a 62-run fifth-wicket partnership and 78-run sixth-wicket stand, ensured they gathered momentum before posting 7-254 from their 35 overs.
An unbeaten 68 from Wilson, coupled with Stewart’s 53 was crucial to Veterans posting their sizeable score.'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
