The Goldfields Giants must win Saturday night's crucial match-up against the Lakeside Lightning to progress further into the State Basketball League play-offs.
Despite a gritty performance on the weekend, the Giants lost the first of their best-of-three quarter-finals by 14 points.
The local side must now travel to Perth to tackle Lakeside on their home turf.
A loss to the Lightning on Saturday night will spell the end of the Giants’ SBL campaign for 2012 while victory will mean a deciding game is played on Sunday.
The Giants will need to find a suitable match-up for Lakeside’s Luke Payne who scored a game-high 37 points on the weekend.
Ben Beran (19 points) and Jarrad Prue (17 rebounds) also caused the local side headaches on the weekend.
Lordan Franich’s availability for this weekend’s clash is still in doubt after he appeared to injure his ankle during Saturday night’s loss. The Giants will look to imports Michael Haney and Ty Harrelson for big-game performances while Dwayne Radcliffe is also expected to return in time for the weekend.
