An Esperance man has been flown to Perth with serious injuries after a crash north of the town.
Police said the 20-year-old was driving at high speed through the Helms Arboretum, 17km north of Esperance, when he crashed on Friday night.
Esperance Sergeant Steve Beswick said police would allege the man was “drifting” at high speeds along the area’s gravel tracks in an unregistered car.
“At around 10.30pm he has lost control of the car on the gravel and hit a tree,” Sgt Beswick said.
“He has suffered severe neck injuries and has been flown to Perth for further treatment.”A 19-year-old female passenger suffered soft tissue injuries in the crash, while two other passengers suffered minor injuries.
