Goldfields badminton stalwart Bill Nimmo was honoured with two awards at the recent country carnival in Perth.
Nimmo was among 18 players who represented the Centrals Badminton Club and capped a memorable weekend by earning the prestigious fairest and best award.
He was also awarded a second honour by the Badminton Association of WA which formally recognised his tireless efforts in promoting the local game over several decades.
The official presentation was made to Nimmo by Cowan MP Luke Simpkins.
Nimmo took up the game aged 11 in 1969 for the Church Badminton Club under the supervision of Tom Rendell.His introduction was especially humble, with matches initially played in a shed behind the Wesley Church.
