Bowlers on top for Royals

Great Boulder Royals will face North Kalgoorlie in Saturday’s Under 17 cricket grand final after a superb effort from its bowlers in last weekend’s preliminary final against Great Boulder Blues.

Defending 149, Royals’ attack routed their opposition for just 67 to set up a showdown with minor premiers Norths at Wallace Park.

Jade Mansson (2-12) snared the key early wickets of openers Jake Allen and Brock Reilly to leave the Blues in trouble at 2-17.

However, it was Sean Jorgensen who emerged as an unlikely hero for Royals, finishing with 4-17 from a brilliant seven-over spell.

Jorgensen tore through the Blues’ middle-order after Brodie Dellar (17) had led a brief revival to lift his team to 4-44.

Dellar’s wicket provided the only meaningful resistance as the Blues lost their final five batsmen for a combined 19 runs.
