Back troubles Driver

Hannans are considering resting English paceman Tom Driver as the left-armer battles a lower back problem in the lead-up to the Goldfields A grade turf cricket finals.

With two qualifying rounds remaining, Hannans wrapped up the minor premiership with their 12th win from 16 games against North Kalgoorlie at Wallace Park on Sunday.

Chasing 9-209, Norths were cruising to victory at 4-173 with Ashley Sbizzirri (80) and James Brennan (54) at the crease, but both departed in the space of four balls.

Seamer Craig Menhennett pulled a rabbit out of the hat for Hannans, claiming 4-26 off 11.2 overs as Norths lost their final six wickets for 20 runs.

Hannans all-rounder Gavin Bailiff also stepped up to fill the void left by Driver, who was unable to bowl after aggravating the back injury while batting, by snaring 3-19 with the new ball.
