Kids get a kick out of Harnwell visit

Esperance soccer players got a chance to learn more about the world game from Jamie Harnwell, Perth Glory’s longest-serving player last week.

Since retiring from the Glory last year, Jamie is now a development officer with Football West and travels throughout WA to pass on his experience and passion for the game.

He won two championship medals and played a record 256 games during his 13-year career with the Glory.

During his first visit to Esperance last week, he ran training courses for different age groups organised by the Esperance Soccer Association and also put on clinics at schools in the town and for coaches.

ESA spokeswoman Carmel Creed said the clinic was aimed to encourage youngsters to get involved in the sport or for more experienced players to brush up their skills.
