A smorgasbord of painting styles by Esperance artist Howard Long, compiled over the past 26 years, will premiere at the Cannery Arts Centre this Friday.

The collection, titled Reflections in Paint, features a range of genres including still life, seascape, landscape and portrait, mainly in the figurative style with a leaning towards expressionism.

Former Kalgoorlie-based musician Bradley Gilchrist will be travelling to Esperance from his new home in Melbourne specially to perform at the official opening this Friday night, along with Perth pianist Jennifer Warren.

The larger paintings take themes from epic Biblical history.

Other works were done around Australia, the Philippines and Israel.

Mr Long said narrative painting produces a smorgasbord upon which to feast the eye.
