Eight new teachers at port school

The corridors of Esperance schools once again burst into life after the long summer holidays, with students, teachers and parents excited about the start of the new school year.

Eight new teachers started work at the Esperance Anglican Community School, taking total staff numbers to 13, with 34 Year 8 students also beginning their secondary school education.

Principal Jason Bartell said some of the new teachers were locals and the others had come from Perth, Geraldton and Norseman.

Mr Bartell said there would be a double stream of Year 8 students, with 17 in each class.

“We are also starting Year 11 courses, which is why we’ve got the influx of new teachers, ” he said.

He said the new teachers would also be teaching students in Years 8 to 10.
