Nationals Federal MP Tony Crook has expressed support for the Goldfields lobby group planning an advertising campaign against what it calls green extremists, saying its concern about the WA Greens’ mining policy was legitimate and “pretty reflective of the community”.
Mr Crook said the lobby group had “exposed the truth”, but added he had “categorically no idea” about the group’s existence until reading about it in the newspaper.
Dads and Mums Against Green Extremists has raised several thousand dollars to urge voters to preference WA Greens last on March 9.The group’s central argument, according to founding member Paul Browning, is that Greens want “the immediate cessation of mining in the Goldfields” – a claim that has been roundly rejected by State and Federal Greens politicians as well as members of the party in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
