Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s newest teachers and school psychologists were welcomed to the region with a sundowner at the Palace Hotel on Friday night.
The evening, organised by the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Primary Schools Network, has become a traditional event to receive new staff members to the Goldfields.
The event was also attended by school principals, staff and Department of Education Goldfields regional executive director Ken Perris.
Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission chief executive Robert Hicks gave an official welcome to the new teachers and psychologists.
“It is very important as a fourth-generation Goldfielder that I provide a local perspective so they can understand there are those families like mine who have been here for generations,” Mr Hicks said. “They are new to the town so if they can get that perspective it may encourage them to become involved in this community and to quite possibly stay longer than they anticipated.”About 40 people attended the event.
