Code yellow denied

The WA Country Health Service has flatly denied Kalgoorlie Hospital triggered an internal emergency alert on the weekend.

The Kalgoorlie Miner reported yesterday the hospital entered a “code yellow” after midwives felt they were no longer able to cope with the number of patients.

The report was based on conversations with senior hospital staff, Greens MLC Robin Chapple and Australian Nursing Federation State secretary Mark Olson.

But a media response provided by WACHS and attributed to Goldfields regional director Geraldine Ennis contradicted these reports.
