A shortage of land in Kalgoorlie-Boulder is approaching “dire straits”, according to one real estate professional.
First National Real Estate partner Norm Sharp warns pressure is mounting on State Government developer Landcorp to release more land or fly-in, fly-out work will increase.
“There is currently very little residential land available in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Landcorp has land that they have yet to develop,” Mr Sharp said.
“With no available properties, people are going to be pushed out of town and will not set up their lives here.
“If you don’t give people an option of where to live, it simply encourages more FIFO work.”
The Landcorp housing development, GreenView near the Kalgoorlie Golf Course, is one of the few residential areas with land available.'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
