A husband and wife team are raising awareness of global poverty by walking across Australia.

Matt and Wendy Napier left Perth on February 2 and will walk 4400km to Sydney, where they aim to arrive on June 28.

Matt will be the one walking while bouncing an AFL football throughout the journey.

“We’re currently about 90 kilometres west of Coolgardie, so we are getting right into the heart of the Goldfields,” Matt said.

“Right now the heat is the main thing I am dealing with, especially with the heatwave we are about to go through. Keeping hydrated is extremely important, so on a hot day I’ll drink between eight and 10l of water.”

Wendy is driving the support vehicle and will walk with her husband for up to 10km a day.
