Region geared up for new playground

A bright new playground at Hammond Park made for children under five years old is nearing completion.

Built in anticipation of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s inaugural KidsFest in July, the play equipment is separate from the main playground area.

Community feedback from a forum in September was that a separate play area for the smaller children would be beneficial.

The new section looks almost complete with bright new, smaller play equipment and kerbing already installed.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder chief executive Don Burnett said the City is waiting on the installation of the fencing and synthetic turf. Shade sails will also be installed over the area.

He said the City budgeted $65,000 for the playground which was expected to be completed by the end of the month.
