The Goldfields Arts Centre has been given a glimpse of hope after WA Nationals candidates Wendy Duncan and Colin de Grussa announced their proposed arts policy.
The policy names the arts centre as one of several venues to benefit from a funding boost of up to $16 million, should the party retain the balance of power following the State election in March.
The funding would be distributed over four years to support regional entertainment centres, cultural centres, arts groups and individual projects.
The announcement was made at the centre on Friday morning.
Members of the Arts Centre president Kevin Blair said he was over the moon with the announcement.“To have a commitment like this, the first one we have heard from any political parties, to assist our community and assist our local government in the operating costs of the centre really starts to give us possible solutions in going forward and helps us to start working to develop this centre into what we want it to be, which is a centre of culture and the arts for the entire region,â€
