My Way takes off

A new services provision scheme for people with disability was launched yesterday in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Disability Services Minister Helen Morton said the My Way project would allow greater “choice, control and flexibility” for those accessing disability services.

“This has been in the making for 12 months,” she said.

“It’s about tailor-making services to fit the individual and unique needs of people.”

Under the scheme, people with disability are able to propose how the support they receive should be spent.

According to the project’s executive director Robyn Massey, the proposal is then judged by a panel that decides whether it provides “reasonable and necessary support”.
