The Kalgoorlie-Boulder State Emergency Service Unit’s headquarters are set to be replaced after the council agreed to apply for funding at Monday night’s meeting.
The council endorsed the request from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services for the city to facilitate and manage the construction of a new SES building.
The council endorsement means the city will prepare and lodge a grant application under the Local Government Grants Scheme.
The grant funding will cover the cost of construction and internal fit-out of the new building, but the city must cover the costs of site works and project management. The council’s support of the proposal is conditional on a new lease agreement being entered into with the DFES.
