Craig Barry had hit rock bottom when he checked into the Goldfields Rehabilitation Services facility on Porter Street 10 weeks ago.
The Kalgoorlie-based rigger had been addicted to crystal methamphetamine ever since trying the drug as a 16-year-old Mandurah High School student.
Eleven years later he had lost everything.
Currently in a 13-week rehabilitation program at GRS, in May Mr Barry will cycle from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Mandurah via Perth, visiting schools en route to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. As well as raising awareness, the ride will also raise funds for the expansion of the Porter Street facility to 34 beds. Financial and in-kind donations are welcome. Phone GRS at 9021 4732.
