Firey 'Scotty' hailed at farewell

Career and volunteer firefighters from throughout the district attended the Saturday send-off of Phil Scott, who has been based at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Fire Station for more than 17 years.

Aside from his duties at the station, Mr Scott had been a stalwart of the volunteer firefighter scene for many years.

He has been coach for the Kalgoorlie Volunteers senior running team, a member of committees for promoting volunteering, publicity officer for Goldfields volunteers, and brigade captain at the Kambalda Fire and Rescue Service.

Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services zone secretary Trevor Jones said “Scotty” would be sorely missed in the Goldfields.

“He’s a good character, a good team builder,” Mr Jones said.
