A slight increase in the number of ambulance callouts in Kalgoorlie-Boulder has occurred as a result of the heatwave.
St John Ambulance Kalgoorlie-Boulder sub-station manager Clint Martin said the combination of the festive season and the heatwave were factors.
“People are drinking more alcohol during the festive season and they get dehydrated much quicker, ” he said.
“Coupled with the heat and people not preparing themselves increased our callouts from between 5 and 10 per cent.”'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
