Chance to nominate top citizens

Don’t miss your chance to nominate an outstanding individual or group for one of this year’s Australia Day awards.

Residents have until Monday to nominate a deserving recipient.

Three local citizens and one local community group will be recipients of the awards, with winners being selected from people and groups who have made noteworthy contributions during the year or given an outstanding service to the community over a number of years.

Mayor Ron Yuryevich said it was important to recognise those who made a difference and Australia Day was the ideal time to do so.

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a long and proud history of acknowledging people who contribute to our unique and diverse community,” he said. “Every day, people in our community are working hard for the benefit of others, be it through a sporting club, community service group or just by volunteering as an individual.”

The awards include the Australia Day Citizen Award, Australia Day Community Group or Event of the Year Award and the Australia Day Mayoral Award.
