A Kalgoorlie teenager has found a way to use his Christmas lights display for a charitable cause.
Shawn Fielder, of Nganka Way, has been collecting donations for Princess Margaret Hospital from everyone who comes to see the lights at his house.
“I have placed third in the past three years in the lights competition, we can get more than 100 people a night,” he said.
“This is my first year collecting donations and I’m hoping to raise $1000.
“So far, I’ve been receiving about $55 a night. Most people just grab the change from their cars, but some have been donating up to $20.
“I will give the money to the kids so they can have a good Christmas as well.”'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
