Two women threw punches on a Kalgoorlie-Boulder street before they apologised and shook hands. One of the fighters, Laurel Stewart, 40, pleaded guilty in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court and was fined $400.

The court heard Stewart and another woman were drinking in front of the hostel on Brown Avenue at 4.05pm on November 8 when an argument broke out. The fight, which included punches and pulling of each others shirts, spilled onto the road and was watched by children.

When police spoke to the two women they apologised for the fight and shook hands.

Magistrate Felicity Zempilas said as “grown women” they should have resolved their differences in another way. Stewart was fined $400 with costs of $125.70.
