Four crashes have occurred on Great Eastern Highway in the past week alone, yet there is still no indication when upgrades to the road will begin.
The stretch of the highway from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Southern Cross, where all four crashes took place, has been under scrutiny for some time.
Federal MP Tony Crook acknowledges the highway’s condition is an ongoing concern, but no funding has been set aside for repairs.
“We have received lots of complaints about this particular section of the highway and there are issues with the road,” he said.
“One of the first emails I received after taking office was in regards to the state of Great Eastern Highway.“I drove along it 10 days ago and some of the drop-off sections appear quite dangerous, especially for small vehicles.”
