As anyone who has ever stood beside a 793C haul truck would know, manoeuvring the 166 tonne vehicle through the central business district is no mean feat.

But every year, that’s exactly what happens in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Thousands of onlookers took to Hannan Street on Saturday and watched the giant truck’s starring role in the St Barbara’s Day parade.

An integral part of the Goldfields events calendar, this year’s festival saw more than 50 community groups strut their stuff in the one-of-a-kind parade.

New additions to the line-up included the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association’s wheelchair basketball league and the Australian Air Force Cadets State Drum Corps.

There was plenty of familiar faces in the line-up, not-to-mention a few quirky additions, including a toilet towed by a model train.
