Kalgoorlie MLA John Bowler yesterday delivered his last speech to State Parliament in which he pleaded with politicians to help promote mining but fight against "ridiculous" work rosters.

Mr Bowler’s near 30-minute speech touched on a number of his well-known issues and causes, including promoting the mining industry, attacks on so-called “greens extremism” and the Great Western Woodlands.

He was at one point jokingly referred to as the “Member for the Woodlands” after he again called for the Goldfields to be known as the “Woodlands” to improve its image.

After beginning his speech by acknowledging members of his family in the public gallery, including his wife Mary Anne, Mr Bowler delivered a blistering attack on the Corruption and Crime Commission.

He went on to say he believed he had implicated his friend Julian Grill and he should not have released a confidential document.

However, he said his actions had only been carried out for the best outcome for Western Australia.
