Coolgardie is experiencing a surge in tourist traffic never seen before.
The Coolgardie Visitor Centre recorded a 32 per cent increase in visitor numbers during August, which is generally a slow month.
Coolgardie Shire president Mal Cullen said the numbers were surprising.
“The increase has astounded me, I’ve never seen so much tourist traffic before,” he said.
“July and August are usually quite dead, but huge numbers of tourists have been passing through.”'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
