A 25-year-old Kalgoorlie-Boulder man has been charged with murder after a body was found in bushland 25km north-east of the city.
The charge comes less than two days after the body was discovered on Friday afternoon, with Detective Senior Sergeant Rod Wilde thanking members of the public for the quick arrest. The man will appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court today to face the charge.
“We really want to thank the general public in particular the people from Kalgoorlie for the information and the response we had in our call for information,” Det Sen Sgt Wilde said.
While Det Sen Sgt Wilde said he could not go into specifics about the crime or the injuries sustained by the victim, he did admit investigations were still continuing in relation to the incident. “There is not a lot I can say about what has taken place but I can say we believe the men are associated with and known to each other,” he said.
“Inquires are still continuing at a number of addresses across Kalgoorlie in relation to the offence.”The body of the 32-year-old man was discovered off Yarri Road by two prospectors on Friday afternoon.
