Local 16-year-old guitarist Ethan Kavanagh received the chance of a lifetime to play as the support act for power vocalist Toni Childs.

Ethan was just finishing work one day when he got a phone call saying his name had been put forward as Childs’ fill-in as her support act was sick.

“I was bloody well rapt, it’s been difficult to get around, it’s only recently I’ve got my name out there,” Ethan said.

Ethan played a half-hour set and his songs were well received by the audience.

“The best one was actually my original, ‘Quit Your Bitchin’,” Ethan said.
