A Kalgoorlie jury was yesterday locked in deliberations over the verdict of a man accused of assaulting his uncle and his friend in a domestic incident.
Brian Joseph Nybo, 41, has been on trial in the Kalgoorlie District Court since last Tuesday after pleading not guilty to the charges.
It is alleged Mr Nybo caused grievous bodily harm to Stevan Lennon, also known as Stevan Nybo, and assaulted David Angus at a South Boulder home on May 17, last year.
Judge Felicity Davis yesterday gave directions to the jury on the law and an overview of the evidence and submissions made during the trial.
The jury retired for its deliberations at 1.20pm and had not returned to deliver its verdict as the Kalgoorlie Miner went to print.
The court has heard evidence from a number of witnesses, including Mr Angus and from Brad Georgeson who were at the house during the alleged assaults.Mr Georgeson’s eight-minute 000 call, which included loud angry voices in the background, was also played to the jury.
