Rob Johnson was the big name axing in Premier Colin Barnett’s latest Cabinet reshuffle with an eye to next year’s State Election.
Mr Johnson, who last came to Kalgoorlie-Boulder in February for a fiery public meeting over police resourcing, was dumped from the Government frontbench as Police Minister, and replaced by Scarborough MP Liza Harvey.
Mr Barnett has also filled key cabinet positions left open by the resignation of Christian Porter to the backbench.
Former lawyer, Michael Mischin was appointed Attorney General and Vaase MLA Troy Buswell was re-appointed Treasurer after he lost the position in 2008.
Independent MP Dr Liz Constable, who will retire at the next Election, was replaced as Education Minister by Peter Collier and Murray Cowper was appointed Minister for Training and Workforce Development with the Corrective Services portfolio.Kalgoorlie MLA John Bowler said there were some surprises in the reshuffle but said he was happy with the State Development and Mines and Petroleum portfolios staying with Mr Barnett and Norman Moore respectively.
