O'Connor MP Tony Crook will reserve comment on the Labor leadership until Kevin Rudd gives a public statement ahead of the resumption of Parliament next week.
Mr Rudd resigned as Foreign Minister yesterday because of the ongoing speculation over the leadership of the Labor Party.
He also cited his concerns over criticism from senior Government ministers, including party stalwart Simon Crean, as catalyst for his resignation.
“Under no circumstances do I want Australia’s international reputation brought into disrepute because of this ongoing saga,” Mr Rudd said.
He said he would be consulting with his family and political colleagues on his future and said he would make a statement before Parliament resumed on Monday.
