FESA to monitor bushfire area

A bushfire near Heartbreak Ridge in the Shire of Dundas was given the all clear by Fire and Emergency Services Authority at 4.45pm on Saturday, but they will continue to monitor the area for months to come.

The fire had burned since Thursday night when lightning struck dry vegetation 65km east of Norseman.

FESA Goldfields District manager Don Sullivan said fire crews had cleaned up after the blaze and checked all fires were out.

“We are now going through the process of mopping up and patrolling the area to make sure all the fires are out, ” Mr Sullivan said.

“One of the fires got as close as 5km to the highway so we needed to make sure it wouldn’t flare up again.”
