Foreshore repairs No.1 priority

The Shire of Esperance has re-affirmed its commitment to repair the foreshore as its number one priority for the town during Premier Colin Barnett’s visit last weekend.

Mr Barnett inspected the jetty and foreshore with shire representatives, long-time Save the Tanker Jetty campaigner Barrie Stearne and Eyre MLA Graham Jacobs on Saturday morning.

“It was good to have a walk along the foreshore this morning,” he said.

“It’s clearly ranked as the most important project by the council so we’ll take that on board as their most important project.

“Some money has already notionally been made available for them but it will need more so we will consider it as part of the Budget.”

Shire president Mal Heasman said the jetty also needed a lot of work.
