First day excitement

Hundreds of Kalgoorlie-Boulder students faced the first day back at O’Connor Primary School after a six-week holiday and got straight into the business of learning, hungry for a great year ahead of them.

Councillors for 2012 took new families on a tour of the school grounds to show them to their classes.

Students walked into their classrooms with books and pencil cases, while the teachers shook their hands and greeted them.

All students were eager to learn.

Sydney Herbert, a Year 2 student, said he enjoyed learning maths on the first day. School principal Steve Delfs and deputy principal Candice Brown went to every classroom, greeting the students and teachers.

All the Year 5 students were very excited to play on the tarantula for the first time – they really enjoyed it. All students are really excited for the rest of the year.
